It always saddens me when someone tells me that they do not hunt because of an unpleasant event they experienced while hunting as a youngster. I usually hear comments about being too cold, or bored, or a gun that kicked them right out of the woods. I am saddened by the fact that their minds are closed to the possibility of hunting because of something that could have been prevented. Just a little oversight from a caring mentor could have brought about a completely different result. Am I saying that we can control the weather, or the deer sightings, or the recoil of a gun? No, but I am saying we.
